Area of StudyUndergraduate TypeThis specifies the undergraduate type of the student to be one of the following values. Transient students who are typically taking courses at an institution with the intention of transferring them back to the school where they are attempting to obtain a degree. First Time in College students who typically have no prior postsecondary experience and are attending any institution for the first time at the undergraduate level. Transfer students who have typically attended a postsecondary institution at the same academic career previously. Readmits to the institution.SIS
Area of StudyAcademic Level (Current Term)Specifies the academic level associated with the student's career term.  For example, undergraduate or graduate.SIS
Area of StudyMajors HeldTotal number of majors held by a student at the institution, with 0 representing undeclared students.SIS
Area of StudyMajor CIP Code 2 DigitFirst two digits of the 6 digit CIP code documenting a student’s declared program of study per standardized Classification of Instructional Program Code/CIP (created by the U.S. Dept. of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics).  Example:  14 = EngineeringSIS
Area of StudyIs New StudentDesignates whether the student is new or continuing at the institution.  A new student is determined by their first term enrolled in courses.  Continuing students are any students who were enrolled in 2 or more terms regardless of whether they successfully completed any courses.  Terms for students who drop all courses before the end of add/drop period are not counted.SIS
Area of StudyHigher Education Award Sought at InstitutionHigher education academic award the student is seeking at the institution.SIS
Area of StudyDegree Program Alignment Score (Cumulative)Measures level of similarity in courses taken between the student and prior graduates in their degree program. A high alignment score means the student has taken a high number of courses in alignment with those taken by student who graduated in their degree program. A low alignment score means the student has taken a low number of courses in alignment with those taken by students who graduated in their degree program.SIS
Background/DemographicsFirst in Family to Attend CollegeSpecifies whether the student is the first in their family to attend college.SIS
Background/DemographicsHigh School Class PercentileStudent's high school class percentile.SIS
Background/DemographicsHigh School Percent Free or Reduced LunchPercent of the student's high school that is free-or reduced-lunch eligible. This feature is created by matching the CEEB code from the student's high school of record to data in the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) database.  A CEEB code is a standardized ID number that is assigned to a high school, college, or university. CEEB codes are issued by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).SIS
